The Hopeful Home for orphans and Helpless Children (the Orphanage) is an independent, non-profit, non political and non religious charitable organization established in March 2002 by two Nepali women named Mrs. Bhubaneswori Pandey and Mrs. Gopini Wosti to provide orphans, street children and helpless children at risk with food, shelter, education, healthcare and other basic needs. The Orphanage operates under the auspices of the Social Welfare council of Nepal (affiliation number 13254) and Civil District Office of Kathmandu (register number ? 680-058/059). The Orphanage is located in Chamati Phant area of Kathmandu, currently houses 36 children aged between 2 and 15and a staff of 5 comprising two full time volunteer and three employees. The Orphanage currently runs at full capacity, however, it can take on further children who are at significant risk. Sometime the Orphanage feels a big pressure from many needy children who are waiting for support. All children, staying in the Orphanage, attend the nearby English medium school the Public English Boarding School. The Orphanage has, to date, enlisted two permanent organizations from US and one from Belgium to find individuals sponsorship of the children committed to cover expenses of education, house rent and utilities of water and electricity amount to c. 45% of operating cost. This funding gap is currently filled by one off donation (both cash and kind) from foreign and Nepali individuals. It leaves the Orphanage very vulnerable to the inherent voiality of timing and amount of contribution. Children are unfortunately affected by this uncertainty. To secure the long term future of this young Orphanage, which has already become home for many children, the Orphanage is wishing to invite different individuals / organization to provide permanent (regular) support to cover its operating cost and future plans. The Orphanage requests to different individuals and organization to provide their support on sponsorship, donation, etc. The Orphanage also welcome any contribution in kind including food, clothes, furniture, stationeries and books, medicines, office supplies ,etc. Volunteer are also welcome to spend their time with children. |
